This module has helped me think about using standards, CFQ's, or formative assessment in the following ways...
I realized that assessments don't have to be limited to tests and quizzes. One can gain a better understanding of how and what students are thinking through a variety of of ways. I found logs and journals to be quite interesting and seemingly effective in assessing students understanding and progress.

How can I use projects to enhance student learning?
We live in a society in which we are bombarded with technology. The students we teach are no longer satisfied with simple paper and pencil assignments that they do in their seats quietly while the teacher sits at her desk. Project based learning is an excellent way to engage students. Such projects foster high order thinking skills, student engagement while teaching a plethora of required curriculum standards. Projects allow me, the teacher, to differentiate instruction. I can meet the specific needs of each student as they work towards a common goal. Projects incorporate real world experience through hands on activities.
